WSLS, Graham Media Group’s NBC affiliate in Roanoke, Va., has named Burt Spangler as its new creative services director. Spangler will oversee the brand image strategy and its execution on all WSLS platforms and community outreach.
Spangler most recently was creative services director at WSET in Lynchburg, Va. Prior to that, he was the director of marketing for WINK Ft. Myers, Fla., for more than 10 years, and in Charleston-Huntington, W.Va., as director of promotions for WSAZ and account executive at WOWK there.
“Burt’s leadership throughout his impressive career is what makes him a great addition to our dynamic management team,” says Jaimie León, WSLS GM. “He brings valuable experience, a fresh perspective and forward-thinking mindset, which will be critical factors in WSLS’ strategy and marketing efforts moving forward. He grew up watching WSLS and I could not be more excited to welcome him home.”
A graduate from Marshall University, Spangler holds a B.A. in speech broadcasting and management. He is an outdoor enthusiast, one of the many reasons he enjoys living here. Spangler joins the station next Monday, Oct. 11.
