KMBC 9 Heart of the Matter premieres this Sunday, Dec. 5. The station promises it will take a deeper look at important local stories of the week and offer a preview of the week ahead. Lawmakers, leaders, KMBC reporters and newsmakers alike will join roundtable discussions focused on the local impact of weekly headlines and ongoing issues.
Heart of the Matter will be written, edited, and produced from the Kansas City studios of KMBC. It will round out a Sunday morning public-affairs programming block on KMBC 9 which includes ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos at 9:30 a.m. and Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien at 10:30 a.m.
“Whether it’s the breaking coverage delivered in newscasts, the in-depth reporting of KMBC 9 Investigates, or the long-form storytelling found in Chronicle, connection is the common thread,” says Dan O’Donnell, KMBC’s news director. “Heart of the Matter will serve to foster even deeper connections for our Kansas City viewers.”
“From politics to poverty, top stories to issues viewers may not know exist, we’ll provide context and insight, shining a light on stories that matter,” says Cody Holyoke, KMBC news anchor and host of Heart of the Matter. ”I can’t wait for viewers to see what we’ve been working on.”
