WAAY, Allen Media’s ABC affiliate in Huntsville, has been named Alabama’s Television Station of the Year by the Alabama Broadcasters Association. “There is great responsibility that comes with being named Alabama’s Station of the Year, and I’m honored to work side by side with this team of dedicated professionals,” says Mike Wright, WAAY’s general manager.
WAAY, Allen Media’s ABC affiliate in Huntsville, has been named Alabama’s Television Station of the Year by the Alabama Broadcasters Association at the 2022 ABBY Awards held Sunday evening, March 27, in Birmingham. In addition to exceptional news and weather coverage, the Station of the Year award is judged on a station’s commitment to its community through public service and charity.

WAAY also received an Outstanding Weather Anchor award for Chief Meteorologist Kate McKenna.
“Kate’s honor is well deserved,” Wright says. “She’s a true calm in the storm, the consummate professional who uses our advanced weather tools to help keep families safe.”
