KELO, branded as KELOLAND Media Group, Nexstar’s CBS affiliate in Sioux Falls, S.D., wrapped up its 10th annual pet food drive with Lewis Drug to benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
The combined totals from KELOLAND and Lewis stores were more than 5,794 pounds of pet food, $1,225 in cash plus pet supplies and toys.

“Everybody has so much fun to come out and help unload these donations from people who are so generous with their donations for this cause and it’s just so fun to be a part of,” says Paul Farmer, KELOLAND’s marketing and creative services director.

“Just because you can’t maybe afford food, doesn’t mean you’re necessarily not equipped to have an animal,” says Madison Godschalk, .Sioux Falls Area Humane Society special event and public relations coordinator. “So this is our way of helping those people in our community and families that are maybe struggling to keep their pets because pets bring a lot of emotional support, a lot of stress relief.”
