Demi Gough, a national news writer and producer at Sinclair’s corporate news hub, says attending Sinclair’s Producer Academy back in 2017 set her on a path to success.
The week-long training session was held in person at the time. Now, the sessions are virtual.
“Every day when we came in, we learned something different,” Gough says.

Gough says there was a student television station at Morgan State University, where she helped write and produce the newscasts.
When approaching graduation from Morgan State, a professor encouraged her to attend the Sinclair producer academy. Gough says she was nervous, but applied anyway.
“I had to send over a producer reel that I created while I was still in college,” Gough says, adding that she was one of about 20 attendees.
“We learned some tricks of the trade,” Gough says. “Sinclair gave background about what we could expect when we come into the industry and what to expect if we decided that we wanted to work for Sinclair.”
Gough spent a few years as a producer at WBFF (Fox 45), Sinclair’s Fox affiliate in Baltimore. “I learned that once you are a part of Sinclair, you’re like family and it did definitely felt like a family environment at Fox 45,” she says.
Gough says she always stresses to students “to take advantage of any opportunities that come your way. Even if you don’t find a job within the company, you still have these new skills you may have learned about the industry you can take whichever place you go.”
She says the last seven years in broadcasting have been awesome. “I keep pinching myself on where I am right now from graduating seven years ago,” she says. “Sinclair has been really great to me in every door that I have stepped in.”
