WCNC, Tegna’s NBC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C., appointed Steve Bailey as marketing director, effective June 5. He will be responsible for overseeing the station’s marketing operations across platforms and Charlotte Today, a locally produced lifestyle show.
Bailey replaces Rob Dwyer, the former marketing director, who is now the general manager at Tegna’s KCEN and KAGS in Waco, Texas.

Bailey joins WCNC from KSA Entertainment, a producer of original content for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, where he was chief operating officer.
Throughout his 25-year career, Bailey has held several executive leadership positions, including head of local programming and creative for Weigel Broadcasting’s WCIU Chicago, where he launched The CW network. While at Weigel, Bailey also conceived and launched news and entertainment programs The Jam and Emmy-Award nominated Chicago Food to Go and Job Hunt Chicago.
Bailey’s previous roles include director of programming and affiliate marketing at Media General where he launched Hollywood Today Live into syndication, vice president of marketing and promotions for ACME Communications, where he oversaw marketing for the nationally syndicated morning show, The Daily Buzz, and manager of affiliate marketing for The WB network.
An award-winning creative producer, Bailey has also held creative leadership roles at local stations including creative services director at WDTN and WBDT in Dayton where he created and executive produced the lifestyle series Living Dayton, and at KWBQ-KASY Albuquerque, N.M. He began his career in media in the sales department at WSTR Cincinnati.
Bailey graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts in communications.
