Clarice Tinsley has been anchoring the 10 p.m. news on KDFW, the Fox O&O in Dallas, for 45 years.
On Dec. 4, 1978, after the latest episode of Lou Grant, a new anchor made her debut on KDFW’s 10 p.m. news. And Tinsley has been there ever since.
When she started, Jimmie Carter was president. The median price for a new home was $62,000 and a gallon of gas was 63 cents.
KDFW has put together some videos to honor Tinsley’s service to the station and the community.

Her daily feature “Here’s To You” salutes hometown heroes throughout the area.
In this video, a Texas Rangers fan declares he’s had only two wishes in his life: For the Rangers to win the World Series and for him to meet Clarice Tinsley.
Here are some highlights of Tinsley’s reporting and recognition from the community.
On March 19, 2014, she interviewed President Barack Obama in the White House, making national and international news. She was the first reporter to ask the president about the search for Malaysian flight MH-370. A North Texan was one of the 239 passengers on board the Triple 7.
In May 2016, Tinsley received an honor from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. During commencement, the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters was bestowed upon her: Clarice Tinsley, H.D.L.
In April 2017, the State Fair of Texas announced the creation of the Clarice Tinsley Journalism Scholarship. This educational opportunity will be given to a Pete Schenkel State Fair of Texas Scholarship college recipient who is studying to become a broadcast or print journalist.
In December 2020, Tinsley was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Black Journalists.
In addition to the George Foster Peabody Award, Tinsley has earned a DuPont-Columbia Citation, an Emmy, three Dallas Press Club Katie Awards, two Awards of Excellence from American Women in Radio and Television, Best Investigative Reporting from Texas Associated Press, the Texas Headliner Award for Investigative Reporting, the Journalistic Award for Excellence from the American College of Emergency Physicians and First Place from the Texas Public Health Association.
