Sean McNamara is the new news director at KDVR and KWGN, Nexstar’s Fox and CW affiliates in Denver. McNamara joins from WDAF, Nexstar’s Fox in Kansas City where he was the news director since 2019.
“Sean understands the importance of complete weather coverage, the impact of big stories and the thrill of being in a championship city, so he’s the perfect fit to lead our newsroom,” says Byron Grandy, KDVR’s GM. “Plus, his multi-platform approach will add additional layers of coverage to an already market-leading digital presence at KDVR.com.”
During his tenure at WDAF, McNamara built an award-winning newsroom that leads the market in audience and coverage of big stories. He also strengthened the station’s political coverage by launching a new weekly political affairs program and hosted numerous debates on important issues.

Prior to WDAF-TV, McNamara was assistant news director at WKMG in Orlando, from April 2011 to December 2019. Before that he was News Director for Central Florida News 13 from March 2007 to April 2011. McNamara earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications/Journalism from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York. Sean will begin his duties with KDVR/KWGN in mid-April.
