Saturday Night Live has been on the air since 1975, making it one of the longest-running television programs in America. NBC plans to air an SNL 50th anniversary primetime special in February 2025, a three-hour live broadcast on a Sunday night.
For viewers like me who may not be awake at 11:30 on a Saturday night to watch SNL, I wish the network would air it earlier. In fact, I would suggest all the weekday latenight shows do the same.
I feel as if I’m missing something but if Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert were on at, say, 10 o’clock, I think the shows would generate more viewers.
Local TV broadcasting is facing some challenges these days, and I thought perhaps we could all use a laugh or two.
So I found some examples of the Saturday Night Live crew faking local TV news from cities like Tampa, Phoenix, Albany, Buffalo, St. Louis and Columbus, as a vehicle for laughs.
The first example is a parody of a talent promo shoot and the second example is what can happen when you try to cancel your cable subscription.
