As you would imagine with the home town team Kansas City Chiefs playing in the Super Bowl, viewership on the Fox affiliate, WDAF, would be high. And the creative services team at Nexstar’s WDAF was ready.
The San Francisco 49ers are playing against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this Sunday. Their appearance in the big game is causing fans across the Bay Area, and even some people who work at KTVU, to come down with some kind of strange fever.
In Kansas City, WDAF got some Kansas City fans together outside, in 14 degree weather, to show their colors. “It’s gets cold here, we play in the cold, our stadium is outside and we tough it,” said Danielle Ray, WDAF’s creative services director.
Anne Brown, marketing director for WITI, Nexstar’s Fox affiliate in Milwaukee, offered to share her station’s Super Bowl promos. If any Fox affiliates want to share their creative efforts, please let me know. My phone number and email address are always listed at the top of the column.
Randy Thurman, creative services director at KHSB in Kansas City, sent along some promos for the Kansas City Chiefs which feature a well-known Hollywood actor. Seems the actor is a big fan of the Chiefs and happened to be in town. “I guess the point of it all is never be afraid to ask anyone, even a Hollywood actor, to do something – they might actually say yes,” said Thurman.
WDAF Kansas City wanted to thank its 500,000 Facebook fans with a special day of celebration. Problem was, as the day approached, it didn’t have a half million followers. The solution was a 24-hour Facebook Live marathon. “I don’t know that it’s been done before, but to go 24 hours straight on Facebook Live was quite the feat,” said Danielle Ray, WDAF’s creative services director.
