I have scoured the internet looking for the latest local TV promos. There are essentially three locations where I can find them: LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube.

I don’t know how LinkedIn determines what anyone will see in their feed. I suspect it has to do with how many connections you have, or people you follow or groups you’ve joined.
I have more than 15,000 connections on LinkedIn and belong to more than 20 broadcast television groups like the National Association of Broadcasters, for example.
The advantage of sharing local TV promos from LinkedIn is that you know who posted the promo and they often include a short description about the work.
And just like when you post something to Facebook or YouTube, it’s out there in the public, although I do try to alert the posters that I’m sharing it.
I’ve observed that Facebook has become much less the site than it was years ago in terms of TV stations sharing videos, including promos. It seems stations are using some copy and a picture to drive their users to their websites to view the videos.
I subscribe to hundreds of TV stations’ YouTube channels, but most use them for posting news stories, not so much for promos.

Here’s a promo from KFSN, the ABC O&O in Fresno, Calif., promoting the station’s new streaming service.
Two promos here from First Coast News, Tegna’s ABC-NBC duopoly in Jacksonville, Fla. The first is a special report promo and the second a news image promo.
Grand Isle is a spit of land on the very southern coast of Louisiana, (I’ve been there), and is usually ground zero for any hurricane headed for the state. The area was damaged extensively by Hurricane Ida, a Cat 4 storm that hit in August 2021. Here’s a promo about a special report from WVUE, Gray’s Fox affiliate in New Orleans.
Graham Media’s CBS affiliate in Orlando, Fla., WKMG, promotes a special report about human trafficking, from girls who’ve been approached.
From WPEC, Sinclair’s CBS affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., comes this promo for a troubling special report about hospitals. “Our enemies trying to shut down machines, if you’re on life support, they could get in there, a couple strokes on the keyboard, and you’re dead,” says the promo.
A topical shot all in one continuous take teasing three separate stories? Here’s how WBBH, Waterman’s NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, Fla. pulled it off. Local TV news topicals are ubiquitous, and trying something different to capture viewers’ attention is to be commended.
Interesting premise in this promo from WKYC, Tegna’s NBC affiliate in Cleveland. “If it matters most tomorrow, it’ll be on 3 News what’s next tonight at 11.”
And we can’t forget weather promotion, after all, it’s still the main reason viewers watch local TV news.
