At the Promax Station Summit this week in Las Vegas, Warner Bros., which is distributing The Jennifer Hudson Show, wowed an audience of local TV creative services and marketing directors with a presentation that included an appearance by the newest EGOT winner herself.
EGOT is the designation given to entertainers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Only 17 people can claim that distinction. And one of them is the host of a new talk show launching on Sept. 12.
Audrey Hepburn is an EGOT. So is Whoopi Goldberg. And now Jennifer Hudson has that distinction, plus she’s the youngest female to ever be an EGOT.

She took the stage and told some funny stories, then answered questions about herself and her expectations for the show. She came across as just who she is — a real person with a delightful personality. While the EGOT is a testimony to her talents as a performer, it’s her personality that will carry the day in an hour-long talk show five days a week.
“Lighting Up Daytime” is the show’s positioning statement and all signs are pointing to its success.
“Nothing makes me happier than to see everybody shine and know that they have a light within them,” Hudson says. “On The Jennifer Hudson Show, you’re going to get quality, you’re going to get honesty, you’re going to get all of my heart, and don’t forget the fun. We’re going to have a lot of fun.”
The Jennifer Hudson Show is being steered by Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner and Corey Palent. The trio have been the driving force of Ellen DeGeneres’ syndicated show, whose host recently said farewell after a nearly 20-year run. The trio will serve as showrunners on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
The Jennifer Hudson Show has been cleared in 95% of the U.S. and will air on stations from groups including Fox Television Stations, Hearst Television, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Tegna, Nexstar Media Group, Scripps Media and Gray Media Group, among others.
The hour-long show will be taped in Los Angeles.
