WAVE, Gray’s NBC affiliate in Louisville, Ky., has released a new 60-second news promo that reminds viewers that they are at the center of the station’s news coverage.

“This campaign lets the viewer know that we are their voice,” says Kris Baete, WAVE’s marketing director.
Baete says they purposely included sound bites in the spot from viewers culled from recent reporter packages.
“Showing actual viewers is a very important element,” he says.
Baete says he wanted authenticity in the spot.
“No scripts at all,” he says. “We shot the anchors during breaks of the newscasts which I thought was an interesting way of capturing moments off the cuff.”


NOTE: Congratulations to Kris and his wife, Sarah, on the birth of their son, Luca. Kris had to beg off on any phone interview for this column because he was at the hospital waiting for Luca to be born.
