A news promo and a special report by KVVU in Las Vegas caught my eye. It’s not easy keeping viewers interested through a 4 minute-plus news story, but a lot of people in the newsroom contributed to make this work stand out.

KTTV, the Fox O&O in Los Angeles, is being recognized for its 25-year commitment to helping kids in foster care find loving families. “I am stopped all the time by people who say I love Wednesday’s Child,” said Christine Devine, KTTV’s reporter and anchor. “I think it’s because it shows hope and caring and a segment of society that can be overlooked, that somebody is out there trying to fight for a better L.A.”
KTNV is encouraging the Las Vegas community to come together and nominate 13 individuals and or organizations who need a miracle. “We encourage our community to share stories of people or organizations in our community that have a critical need in the areas of homelessness, health care, hunger, education, military, first responder or youth sports,” said Chris Way, KNTV’s general manager.
Every day, at least two people in Connecticut die from an opioid overdose. So WTNH, Nexstar’s ABC affiliate in New Haven, launched a digital-first campaign this week that provides an in-depth look at the state’s opioid problem and contains vitally important information regarding the issue.
