The donations collected will go toward food, water and cleaning supplies for families as they reclaim their homes from Hurricane Michael. “This city knows how devastating it can be to lose everything,” said Joel Vilmenay, WDSU’s general manager.
WDSU, Hearst’s NBC affiliate in New Orleans, held a telethon on Friday, Oct. 12, for victims of Hurricane Michael.
Working in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, WDSU’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors telethon set up a phone bank to raise funds for the relief effort in the Florida Panhandle.
The donations collected will go toward food, water and cleaning supplies for families as they reclaim their homes.
“This city knows how devastating it can be to lose everything,” said Joel Vilmenay, WDSU’s general manager.
“The residents of Southeast Louisiana are always willing to help those in need, and WDSU is proud to help connect our community to the victims of Hurricane Michael.”
“We are so grateful for the generosity of WDSU and this community,” said Natalie Jayroe, of Second Harvest Food Bank’s president.
“Helping our neighbors in need is truly a community effort.”
