KNOE, Gray’s CBS affiliate in Monroe, La. (DMA 140), is offering its broadcast facility and over-the-air signal to the 19 Monroe City Schools serving 8,500 Pre-K through 6th grade students who are at home due to the coronavirus crisis.
Starting this week, lessons in English, math, science and social studies, prepared by the district’s teachers, will air on the station’s subchannel, KCWL 24.2.

Monroe City Schools prepared take-home packets with materials. The district is also providing Chromebooks to students for online access to instructional materials, and is communicating with parents and students through the Remind app, school/district website, weekly Zoom schedules from the school with teachers along with Google Classroom for instructional activities.
Monroe City Schools is also making sure its students have access to healthy meals. The district is providing meals at eight school sites Monday through Friday.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has forever impacted our lives,” said Laura Long, KNOE’s general manager. “We are in this together, and that’s why it’s KNOE’s responsibility and mission to step up and help our younger generation get through this unprecedented time by giving every child the access to keep learning.”
