WDTN, Nexstar’s NBC affiliate in Dayton, Ohio, with corporate partner Kroger, began its 37th annual Food for Friends campaign this week, an initiative to help stock neighborhood food banks.
The campaign runs through Monday, Dec. 24.
Since WDTN first developed the first Food for Friends campaign in 1982, more than 13 million food items have been collected and distributed to families in need through the Foodbank of Dayton and other food pantries in the Miami Valley.
“Dayton is one of the hungriest cities in America and we know the need throughout the Miami Valley is greater than ever,” said Joe Abouzeid, WDTN’s general manager.
“WDTN is committed to fighting hunger and helping our neighbors in need.”
