WCVB Helps Veterans With Day-Long Event

WCVB, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Boston, partnered with Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program, for a special day-long televent entitled Project CommUNITY: Helping Veterans Heal.

Project CommUNITY: Helping Veterans Heal  increased awareness and generated funds to support Home Base’s clinical programs for the treatment of the invisible wounds for veterans of all eras, service members, and military families.

Headquartered in the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, Home Base is the only private sector clinic in New England, and the largest private sector clinic in America with the sole focus of helping at-risk veterans and military families regain the lives they once had — all at no cost.

Viewers were encouraged to donate or call to be immediately connected to volunteers who could process donations, provide information about the vital work of Home Base, or provide resources to any warriors and military families who want care.

According to a spokesperson for WCVB, Project CommUNITY: Helping Veterans Heal raised more than $300,000 and counting.

WISC, Morgan Murphy Media’s CBS affiliate in Madison, Wis., has a rare opening for a news director to lead its team at the family-owned flagship of Morgan Murphy Media in one of America’s best cities. There have been four news directors at this station in the past 42 years, so this opportunity doesn’t come along very often. According to WISC: “We are looking for someone to break the mold and connect with local audiences in a new way.  We produce 40 hours of television news a week and embrace coverage through our app, social, website, and streaming video channels resulting in a digital leadership position in the market.”
