KING, Tegna’s Seattle NBC affiliate, launched a new newscast last week titled, Take 5.
The newscast airs in the afternoons at 4, with a casual conversation about news events, and storytelling centered around people, places and ideas that leave a positive feeling.
“We have a unique opportunity to launch a different type of newscast, centered around storytelling and audience interaction,” Cheryl Carson, KING’s news director.
“We really do want people to learn something, feel something and then be empowered to go do something to help make their lives better.”
Take 5 is made up of four hosts — and an audience.
Viewer interaction is an important part of the show. They can join the 5 Hive Facebook group to be a part of a digital community who want to do good.
Viewers might even get invited to be on the show live, via FaceTime or Google Hangout.
